Who is the Mockingbird?

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is about a girl named Scout and her brother, Jem, who had the most adventurous summer when a boy named Dill came to visit one summer. They told story's about Boo Radley and why he never comes out of the house. They also have to deal with everyone being raciest and how Scout and Jems' father, Atticus, was a lawyer who was standing up for a black man who was accused of molesting a women. Will the trial effect how everyone in the town thinks? Or will some peoples lives be at hand?

My favorite quote from this book is " 'I'd rather you shoot at tin cans in the backyard, but I know you'll go after the birds. Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird' That was the only time i ever heard Atticus say it was a sin to do something, and i asked Miss Maudie about it. 'Your Father's right' she said 'Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird.'" (chapter 10, Page 119). I think that it's cool to think about how it's a sin to kill something that does no harm to us. It makes me think about who the mockingbird is in this book.

My favorite character was Scout because she showed that girls do things that we don't want to do to make people happy and that everyone always tries to be brave, even if we feel like we can't be brave. She was told to stand up for someone and gets in trouble for it, which i feel happens more often now a days. She wear a dress to school because she had to when she felt uncomfortable in it. I feel like  women, even as a young girls, we do things to make other people happy and we try to be sturdy all the time.

I would rate this a 10 out of 10 because the story line is very realistic about what was going on in  the 1960's and that we don't have to like or dislike someone based on the color of their skin. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes classic novels and is into the to older days types of books.

My New Body

A Certain Slant Of Light by Laura Whitcomb is about a ghost named Helen who meets a boy who was originally a ghost but took the body of a boy with no soul. He helped her do the same so they could be together, even if it was for a short time. When they find her a body of a young girl, things take a turn for the worst when she realizes the type of family the young girl was involved in. when they realize this, they start looking for there body's original soul. Will they find the souls or are they to late?

My favorite character was James because you don't know his story of how he died. It's a mystery throughout the story of how he died but you don't get good hints on how it happened. I felt like he was out spoken, he was blamed for everything in the book when he tried to fix what his "body" had done before he got there.

I thought this was a very good paranormal book and it got me over my book hangover! I would rate it a 8.5 out of 10 because it was well written but it didn't show James' side of the story and that would have made it better. I would recommend this to anyone who loves paranormal books and also anyone who's looking for a light read.

The Summer I Never Thought I Would Enjoy

The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks is about a girl named Ronnie who is forced to spend a summer with her father in North Carolina. The first month Ronnie is there rejects and ignores her father, but when he stops playing the piano for her they start to bond. As the summer continues, Ronnie bumps into a hometown boy named Will and they fall in love instantly. By the end of the summer, they have had many trials with their relationship, friendships, and family.

My favorite character is Will because it showed his side of the story instead of just focusing on the girls point of view. He didn't date a girl because of there looks, and he was real with everyone he met. Women say that all guys are the same but this character shows that guys are different to girls if they truly love them.

I really liked this book and would recommend this book to anyone who loves Nicholas Sparks and to people who love romantic, sad books.

The Boy Who Lived

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling is about a boy named Harry who who lived after an attempt to be killed by Voldemort. 10 years later, he gets a letter from Hogwarts School of Witch Craft. He goes to the school and finds out there's more then it seems there and tries to to help Hogwarts when he thinks Snape is behind something that would help bring Voldemort back.

My favorite character was Hermione because she showed that not everyone is from the same background and that it doesn't effect with what you can achieve.

I loved this book, it has officially became my favorite book and I can't wait to read the rest of the series. I would recommend this to everyone who wants a book you cannot put down.

Welcome to Beverly Hills

The A-List by Zoey Dean is about a girl named Anna who moves to Beverly Hills to live with her dad. On the plane ride there she meets this guy named Ben who she thinks is the guy of her dreams until she meets his friends. They try to ruin her life because she is not part of the A-List and they will do anything to get her out of the picture with Ben.

My favorite characters were Anna and Sam because they showed that the girl isn't always perfect and doesn't always get the guy. Anna showed what a strong independent girl looks like when a boy breaks her heart. She also showed that all stories don't have a happy ending. Sam showed that guys can still like you no matter what your clothing size is.

I thought this is a very interesting book to read and I'm very excited to read the rest of the series. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes teen drama and California/Beverly Hills themed books.

The Boy Who Never Grew Up

Peter Pan by J.M. is about a boy named Peter who was taken to Neverland so he would never have to grow up. When he went to the main land, he heard a story, it was from the darling house. Wendy was her name and she believed in Peter Pan, After Peter heard the story's, he took Wendy and her two brothers to Neverland to live and to be a mother to the lost boys.

My favorite characters were Peter and Wendy. What I loved about Peter was that he never wanted to grow up, he portrays our child like tendencies. Wendy, wanted to be a mother, which was my favorite part of her. She thought she never wanted to grow up, but while she was in Neverland, she discovered that being a kid has no meaning to it after awhile. They forget, no responsibility, needing to be taking care of. Wendy wanted to have experiences of growing up.

My only dislike of the book was that Peter didn't stay with Wendy. I wanted them to grow up together and fall in love, but then there would be no believing in him if he grew up.

This is one of my favorite books, one reason is that I'm a big Disney nerd and obsessed with Peter Pan. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Disney and wants a twist to know the original story of Peter .

Love, It's A True Thing

This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen was about a girl named Remy who has always had her doubts about love, especially when she's trying to plan her mothers fifth wedding. But one day a musician named Dexter bumps into her and she starts to question her doubts about love and why she feels the way she does for him.

My favorite character was Dexter because he was always so straight forward and kind. He seems like a girls dream guy with all the nicks and cranny's along with it. What I love was that he was always so happy and tried everything to make it work between Remy and him. He was very patient and considerate that it's no wonder every girl is falling for him.

This book is amazingly written, Sarah makes you fall in love with every character in this book. She has you at the edge of your chair wondering whats going to happen next. I would recommend this book for young adults who love a twist in a romantic novel.

The Letter A

The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne is about Hester who committed adultery and was sentenced to wear the letter A for the rest of her life. She is then forced to carry a secret about who the father of her child, Pearl. When a physician comes to town, he's carrying a few secrets about Hester. Secrets that might destroy a person whom the people care the most about, the towns beloved minister.

My favorite character was Hester because she was a single mother and who had to carry secrets about who the father is of her illegitimate child is and who the physician is. She is disrespected by all when she receives the scarlet letter and no one will try to be her friend. Her only companion is Pearl. By the end of the novel, Hester is a strong, independent women who is respected by the town.

What I disliked about the story was that it's a very old story, written over 165 years ago. Old story's are hard to understand because of the use of old language. Another thing was that it went from the characters name to what there job is, it was very confusing and hard to keep up with.

This was a good book to read for an assigned school reading. Although it was an old book it was very realistic as to what happened in the 1850's. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys older literature books.

This is Why I Did it

13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher is about a boy named Clay who returns home and discovers a box of cassette tapes on his bed. When Clay listens to the cassette tapes, he finds that it's his crush Hannah Baker who committed suicide a couple weeks earlier. Clay proceeds to travels through his hometown while listening to the cassette tapes to find out why Hannah committed suicide.

My favorite character was Clay, because I sympathized for him. Clay hearing Hannah saying why she killed her self on the tapes was hard for him. Every where Clay went, he found another way he could have helped Hannah. Clay should be frustrated that his crush committed suicide, and wasn't able to help her.

I thought this was a very well written book about what teenagers go through in high school. It had a good message in it, that: words and actions do hurt, especially the ones you don't say. I would suggest this book to people who enjoy reading teen fiction books.

One Mans Journey

American Sniper by Chris Kyle is about Chris's life when he was at war and trying to have a normal life at home after being way at war for 10 years.

My favorite character/person was Chris's wife Taya. She went through so much with Chris being gone all the time and kept loving him through all the decisions he made. She raised two kids on her own and had to deal with Chris's PTSD along with it.

What I liked about this book was that it was written from his prospective when he was at war. We get to see what happen in war from a soldiers perspective compared to hearing what reporters and media are telling us.

prefer autobiography and this one was one of the best autobiography I have read in a long time. I would recommend this book for people who like autobiography's about military and war

What would you confess if you were a vampire's girlfriend?

Confessions of a vampire's Girlfriend by Katie MacAlister was about a girl named Fran pulled from school and is forced to travel all over Europe with her mom in a gothfair with people with weird powers. She just longs to be a normal girl and not have to be surrounded by bizarre people, until she meets Benedikt. Once they have their first kiss, she starts to embrace the freakishness in her life.

Fran and Benedikt were my favorite characters because they actually displayed teenage struggles in wanting to be normal and trying to make there relationship work. Fran showed the girl struggle in trying to get the Benedikt to like her but stood up for herself no matter what. Then, Benedikt struggles with trying to be his macho man and trying to protect Fran from harm

My only dislike about this book was how Katie made Benedikt this guy who feels like he can do anything. I feel like Katie could at least have made Benedikt a guy who would let Fran actually do things herself, I am happy that he does let her do things herself at the end of the book.

Overall, this was an excellent, well written book. You will definitely fall in love with some of the characters. I would suggest this book to someone who loves Europe and loves vampires and other immortal creatures.
